É«»¨ÌÃÂÛ̳

GoFirst, one of India's low-cost airlines, has extended its flight cancellations until August 18, 2023 due to operational issues.

Key details regarding GoFirst's flight cancellations:

  • Initial flight cancellations: Early May 2023
  • Latest extended cancellation date: August 18, 2023
  • Total flights cancelled: All flights until August 18
  • Key reason cited: Operational issues
  • Revival plan: Filed for resolution and revival of operations
  • Expected resumption of bookings: Shortly, as per airline statement.

The airline announced the extension of cancellations via a tweet on August 16 and apologized for inconveniences caused to passengers.

GoFirst also released an official statement regarding the flight cancellations:

  • Airline has filed for immediate resolution and revival of operations
  • Expects to resume bookings shortly
  • Committed to providing assistance to affected passengers

Earlier in May, GoFirst had filed for voluntary bankruptcy before NCLT, citing delays from engine supplier Pratt & Whitney. This led to the grounding of some of its fleet.

Key GoFirst company details:

  • Founded: 2005
  • Employees: ~4,200
  • Aircraft fleet: 57 (before grounding)
  • FY22 revenue: ₹4,183 crores

The flight cancellations have led to pressure on airfares on certain routes served by GoFirst. DGCA has allowed GoFirst to resume limited operations of 15 aircraft and 114 daily flights.
