History Of Solan

In 1972, Solan came into existence as a result of the political reorganization of some districts within the state of Himachal Pradesh. Talking specifically, it was from the tehsils (administrative area) of Arki and Solan of Mahasu district and Kandaghat and Nalagarh tehsils of Shimla district, that this town was forged out of. Currently, it comprises the princely states of Bhagal, Bhagat, Kunihar, Kuthar, Mangal, Beja, Mahlog, Nalagarh along Keontha as well as Kothi and a few hilly areas of Punjab. These regions were merged in Himachal Pradesh on November 1, 1966.
