History of Saint Jude's Shrine

Situated in the Civil Lines of Jhansi, there is an interesting story behind the construction of this church. Some time ago in history, the glory of St.Jud Thaddaeus was not even known in India. It was Bishop F.X. Fenech who was considered as a man of great learning and spiritual knowledge, who once promised St. Jude that if he helped him in his religious work, the Bishop would build a shrine in Jhansi, honoring him. 

And soon, with the right efforts, the church was materialized. With this, the bishop became the first person to have started praying in church. And today, the Christian devotees come to pray here from far-off places offering their prayers and seeking guidance from the saint and the almighty.

In St.Jude’s honor, a yearly festival is also celebrated with great enthusiasm. Due to its popularity, people of other religions also attend the same.

1. Jahangir Mahal

Visit Jahangir Mahal for its fine architecture and historical significance that will blow away your mind. The construction of this place dates back to the 17th century A.D. It was built by Vir Singh Deo as a symbol reception of Mughal Emperor Jahangir.

2. Chaturbhuj Temple

The temple is situated in and locals have immense faith in the deity which is Lord Vishnu. The name itself suggests the residing deity which is Lord Vishnu. Chatur means four and Bhuj means arms. So, the temple is made in the honor of the one who has four arms who is Lord Vishnu.

3. Ganesh Mandir Temple

The temple is dedicated to Lord Ganesha. The temple holds immense faith amongst people. Many people also commemorate their wedding ceremony here.
