History Of Shoghi

Back in the 19th century, during the Anglo-Gurkha War, Gurkhas were defeated in the war of Malaon at the hands of Chieftains. The Chieftains and the British joined hands and forced the Gurkhas to sign the Treaty of Sanjauli, and the regions under the Gurkha rule were given back to the original rulers. Because of the Maharaja of Patiala’s continued service, the British gifted this region, including Shoghi and Shimla, to him.
